Beyond Projects: Elevating Success in Civil Engineering Through Serving Our Communities

Share

In the world of civil engineering, where structures and infrastructures often take center stage, there is a growing awareness of the need to also build up our communities. Commercial Development Resources (CDR), a forward-thinking civil engineering firm, exemplifies this ethos by actively participating in community outreach initiatives.

CDR’s commitment to building communities extends beyond the workplace through partnerships with charitable organizations such as the John Wayne Cancer Foundation, Wounded Warrior, The Joyful Child Foundation, Walk to End Alzheimer’s, and Operation Christmas Child. CDR is making a positive impact on both local and global communities.

CDR has team members who actively participate in various initiatives to make a difference. For example, Arelly Ocampo, EIT, a Design Engineer a CDR, serves as a college essay writing coach for Girls Incorporated of Orange County. Hannah Lancaster-Yale, a Project Manager, has spent meaningful time mentoring children at Harvey Elementary School. Such engagement not only reflects the company’s ethos but also underscores the individual efforts of its team members to contribute to the well-being and development of the communities they serve.

John Wayne Cancer Foundation

The CDR team proudly supports the John Wayne Cancer Foundation, contributing to groundbreaking cancer research, education, and awareness programs. The team demonstrated this commitment by actively participating in the 5k Grit Series in Newport Coast, CA. This marked the second consecutive year that the company has stood behind the foundation at this impactful event. The dedicated CDR team, led by Team Captain Meghan Meek, not only showcased their grit but achieved remarkable results, with Meghan finishing in the top 20 overall among all entries—an impressive accomplishment! Returning team members Brad Sheelor and Aaron Albertson also demonstrated their dedication by improving their times, while first-timers Arelly and Alena set a high standard for future events. CDR is committed to promoting the foundation’s mission of bringing courage, strength, and grit to the battle against cancer.

Wounded Warrior

Honoring the sacrifice of our nation’s heroes, CDR actively engages with the Wounded Warrior Project. CDR’s donations help veterans who have been wounded in combat with rehabilitation support and mental health services. By partnering with this organization, CDR is extremely proud to be supporting the well-being and recovery of those who have bravely served their country. We thank all veterans for their service to our country.

The Joyful Child Foundation

CDR places a strong emphasis on child safety and is a proud supporter of The Joyful Child Foundation. Actively participating in community events, workshops, and fundraising efforts, CDR helps promote child safety awareness. By empowering children with tools and knowledge to protect themselves, the company is contributing to creating a secure and supportive environment for the next generation.

Walk to End Alzheimer’s

CDR takes steps to make a difference in the fight against Alzheimer’s disease by participating in the Walk to End Alzheimer’s. CDR team members, including Arelly Ocampo, EIT, Luke Russell, M.S., P.E., and the entire Russell Family recently participated. Their team’s effort raised $1,280 to help fight this disease. CDR proudly supported Luke and Arelly’s initiative to assist in the care, support, and research efforts of the Alzheimer’s Association. Way to go, Arelly & Russell Family!

Operation Christmas Child

For the past several holiday seasons, CDR engineers, led by CDR’s Planning and Permitting Expeditor Alena Kriachko, have brought joy to children around the world through their participation in Operation Christmas Child. By encouraging employees and community members to contribute, CDR donated a remarkable 10 gift-filled boxes to the initiative this year. Through this act of generosity, the company made a meaningful impact, spreading smiles and warmth during a time of celebration.

CDR stands as a testament to the belief that success in the civil engineering industry goes beyond completing projects—it extends to the positive impact made on the communities served. Through partnerships with the John Wayne Cancer Foundation, Wounded Warrior, The Joyful Child Foundation, Walk to End Alzheimer’s, and Operation Christmas Child, CDR builds hope and support for those in need. With a culture of compassion, empathy, and responsibility, CDR demonstrates that a civil engineering company can be a force for positive change in the world.
